Members of Nação Zumbi and Cidadão Instigado Unite With Ilhan Ersahin for ‘Praia Futuro’

By 27 April, 2017

This is the kind of news that gets us excited. Dengue from Nação Zumbi has teamed up with Fernando Catatau and Yuri Kalil of Cidadão Instigado, as well as Ilhan Ersahin, best known as a Swedish/Turkish jazz improv specialist and the owner of Nublu Records and the Nublu bars in New York, for a new project called Praia Futuro.

The group took to life last year at the Nublu Jazz Fest in São Paulo and have since recorded and now released a debut album. With Dengue on bass, Kalil on drums, Catatau on guitars and Ersahin on sax and keyboards, Praia Futuro, the album, was released on April 7th, with a physical release hopefully coming sometime soon too.

Two tracks have so far been released from the album: “Massive” a brooding cinematic instrumental with Catatau’s rasping guitar and Dengue’s infectious groove leading the way; and the album’s title track which is a rawer, more garagey instrumental with Ersahin playing a swinging sax line, with the overall effect not too far away from a stoned-out Rolling Stones session. You can listen to these two tracks below.
